Summary of Position

The Department of Earth Sciences (ESCI) at the University of New Hampshire (UNH) seeks applications for a nine-month tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in the area of Chemical Oceanography. This position will be a full-time academic year appointment. We invite applicants from all fields of chemical oceanography, especially those that complement existing research strengths in oceanography, marine geology and geophysics, paleoclimatology, geology, hydrology, geochemistry and biogeochemistry. The Department of Earth Sciences ( conducts research into the oceans, atmosphere and solid earth, and offers Bachelors, Masters and PhD degrees in Oceanographic, Earth and Environmental Sciences. Opportunities for interdisciplinary collaborations across campus include a joint appointment within the School of Marine Sciences and Ocean Engineering (SMSOE; which, along with the Ocean Process Analysis Laboratory and Earth Systems Research Center, is housed within the Institute for the Study of Earth Oceans and Space (EOS).

The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain a vigorous externally funded research program while contributing to departmental teaching needs in oceanography, chemical oceanography, and geochemistry courses, mentoring graduate and undergraduate students and participating in service activities.
