Summary of Position

A postdoctoral NIH-funded position in Neurobiology is available at the Andrade Lab to study the functional role of splice isoforms of voltage-gated calcium channels in the nervous system, and the modulation of voltage-gated calcium channels by cannabinoid receptors during anxiety states. We are interested in using the ability of the nervous system to generate cell-specific splice isoforms to improve pharmacological therapies. The lab uses multiple systems including cell lines and transgenic mice, and state-of-the art electrophysiological and behavioral techniques. The successful candidate will complement our expertise in electrophysiological recordings, together with optogenetics, DREADDs, and behavior. The lab will provide access to an assortment of electrophysiological, optogenetic, histological and behavioral procedures. We currently have ongoing collaborations with various researchers located at Brown, MIT and the Broad Institute.

Specific duties and responsibilities and % time performed:
1. 60% conducting research under the direction of PI.
2. 20% data analysis and communication of results through publications and conferences.
3. 20% supervision and training of student workers in the lab

Acceptable Minimum Qualifications

Doctoral degree in neurobiology or related fields and related research experience.
