Job Description

The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is currently accepting applications from qualified individuals for the position of Assistant Coach, Men’s and Women’s Cross Country/Track and Field. This position will be responsible for assisting in all phases of a Division I program, reporting to the Director of Men’s and Women’s Cross Country/Track and field.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
•Assist Head Coaches in all phases of the Cross Country/Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Programs
•Coaching at all practices and both home/away meets
•Conditioning and training of student athletes, with the ability to teach and coach fundamentals and advanced skills
•Recruiting and evaluating prospective student-athletes who best fit the University, including maintaining an efficient and effective tracking and evaluation system
•Assist with administrative duties, including coordinating travel and equipment
•Assist in home meet management
•Assist with academic supervision
•Assist with social media, public relations, and fundraising
•Maintain competency with respect to knowledge of and compliance with state and federal laws, university policies/regulations, conference rules/policies, and NCAA rules, and report to the Director of Athletics your knowledge of any violation of NCAA, conference and/or institutional rules
•Represent the University on a high professional level, with dignity, integrity, and strength of character. Respect the rights and dignity of each student-athlete, display sensitivity to diversity issues and work to create an inclusive and welcoming environment

Required Qualifications

Required qualifications include a bachelor’s degree and relevant competition and/or coaching experience at the college level. Applicant must have strong communication and organizational skills, initiative and good judgement. Thorough knowledge of NCAA rules, ability to pass the NCAA recruiting test. Applicant also should be proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel and have a valid driver’s license. Evening and weekend work will be expected. He or she must be able to successfully complete a background check.

Master’s Degree preferred. A sense of humor.
