Summary of Position

The Department of Mechanical Engineering (ME) at the University of New Hampshire (UNH), invites applications for two tenure track positions, with particular interest in advanced manufacturing and ocean engineering (OE), but all areas of mechanical engineering will be considered.
• For advanced manufacturing, focus areas of interest include, but are not limited to, automation/control, biomanufacturing, flexible electronics, Industry 4.0, materials processing, precision machining, or rapid prototyping/additive manufacturing.
• For OE, focus areas of interest include, but are not limited to, marine robotics, ocean simulations, marine structures, coastal processes, ocean sensing, and marine geotechnics.
• For the general area of ME, focus areas of interest include, but are not limited to, robotics, systems/controls, and high fidelity computations.
These hires will build on previous and proposed cluster hires in the advanced manufacturing, flexible electronics, integrated applied mathematics, and marine science. UNH actively creates an educational environment that fosters diversity, inclusion and quality engagement for all.

Acceptable Minimum Qualifications

Minimum qualifications for the positions include a Doctorate in ME, OE, or a closely related field and evidence of ability to i) establish and maintain a productive level of scholarly work; ii) excel as a teacher at both the undergraduate and graduate levels; iii) successfully mentor undergraduate and graduate research students; iv) participate in Department, College and University service activities. The successful candidates may have affiliations with the John Olson Advanced Manufacturing Center or School of Marine Sciences and Ocean Engineering and have opportunities to engage in interdisciplinary collaborations across campus. These positions will be full-time academic year appointments. Candidates at all academic ranks should apply, but preference will be given to applicants at the assistant professor level.
