Job Description

Under general supervision of department chair, assist the Mathematics Center (MaC) Director in overseeing the day-to-day operation of the Mathematics Center, including: developing and implementing an ongoing tutor training program, scheduling undergraduate tutors, supervising the tutors employed at the Center and working with them to ensure that they have the mathematical knowledge necessary to help MaC’s clients, teaching mathematics and study skills to students taking 400-level mathematics courses, providing academic counseling for students, compiling and maintaining necessary records and statistics, and taking full responsibility for the Center when the Director is unavailable. This is a part-time hourly non-benefits eligible position. The appointment is for September through August with some non-working periods during summer and semester breaks. Individuals can expect an average of 28 hours per week during the Fall and Spring semesters when the Center is operating at full capacity.

Required Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in mathematics or a related field and one year of related experience.
2. Supervisory ability and knowledge of administrative management methods and principles.
3. Knowledge of materials and methods used in tutoring mathematics.
4. Good communication skills, both oral and written.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Experience teaching college mathematics.
2. Experience in a mathematics center or lab setting.
