Summary of Position

Reporting dually to the Director of Marketing Communications and Creative Services (MCCS) & the Plymouth State Director of Athletics, the Assistant Director will support and implement marketing activities that will advance the work of the university, the university department of athletics and all university sports teams. Candidates will be capable of leveraging social media and digital communications and understand NCAA Division III athletics in terms of game day statistics and event management.

Other minimum qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, communications, sports marketing and/or sports information.
Minimum of three years of related experience.
Strong working knowledge of in-game statistical programs.
Experience with website maintenance, updating and design.
Strong working knowledge of web-casting technology, video production and Social Media.
Knowledge of news, reporting, public relations, printing, graphics & editing principles.
Excellent organizational skills.
Some travel will be required.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in marketing, communications,journalism, sports marketing, athletic administration.

Salary Information

Salary is complemented by a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical, dental, retirement, tuition, and paid time off.
Salary Range: $43,710 to $55,000.

Duties / Responsibilities

Job Duties


Manage all on-site athletics communication services, including in-game statistics and programs for home contests and championship events.  25%

Manage and update website content and social media platforms with scores, current statistics, records, rosters, photos, game notes, previews and recaps, interviews, special features, and video.  15%

Implement communications plan utilizing sports marketing techniques, technologies, social media, video and digital marketing tools.  10%

Distribute timely information about PSU’s intercollegiate athletics teams to Media.  8%

Supervise the creation and editing of game and team highlight videos.  7%

Compile, update, and report statistics to the NCAA and member conferences.  5%

Serves as the primary media contact for the Athletics department and each of the PSU sports teams and collaborate with campus constituents including alumni relations, student and academic affairs. 5%

Provides hands on learning for student workers in webcasting, statistics, sports journalism and various office duties.  5%

Serves as a member of the Athletics Department and MCCS leadership staffs. 5%

Ensure consistent brand messaging. 5%

Stay current on new technologies, best practices, and trends in marketing communications within university athletics. 5%

Support marketing activities for campus-wide initiatives, including but not limited to special and annual signature events.  5%
