Summary of Position

This position will oversee all campus building and grounds projects and project managers with specific project management responsibility over the more complex, high value, risky projects, about 20% of the 80 projects totaling $18.75 million for fiscal 2018. This lead project management role will track, consolidate, hold accountable and report on all projects planned and underway and develop and subsequently train all project managers on processes, procedures, documentation, tools and communications. This position will also oversee, analyze, negotiate and collaboratively select with PSU and USNH leadership utility service contracts. PSU Physical Plant maintains 60 buildings totaling 1,700,000 square feet and 182 acres of property with a $12 million Operating Budget and a $6 million R&R Budget.

Other minimum qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in science, engineering, or architecture and seven years significant experience in the management of facility projects, including five in a supervisory capacity.
Experience in managing multiple contracts and contractors to complete complex, multi-phase building and infrastructure projects.
Excellent knowledge of construction means, methods, safety standards, and job-site management.

Understanding of and able to apply construction management principles, including scheduling, financial management, sub-contracting, bonding, and insurance.

Familiar with and able to interpret applicable building codes, safety standards, environmental protection regulations and accessibility standards.

Excellent oral and written communication skills required, including the ability to prepare formal correspondence, run large meetings, and facilitate problem solving among multiple disciplines, and experience in preparing and delivering formal presentations.

Able to wear/use personal protective equipment as needed on construction sites.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

Project Management Certification.
Experience working in an institution of higher education.
Creative, collaborative problem-solving skills.

Negotiate & Recommend all utility contracts in cooperation with PSU and USNH leadership.
Liaison to all campus utility companies and USNH utilities oversight.
Document and train all project managers on processes, procedures, documentation, tools and communication.
