Summary of Position

Information Technology Services at Plymouth State University is seeking an Lead Windows System Administrator for their Technology Services team. This position requires an individual who is capable of managing multiple priorities in a busy environment. The candidate selected must be a self-directed, pro-active problem solver with highly developed analytical and critical thinking skills. In addition, the selected candidate must be someone who can work collaboratively within a team structure using strong and positive interpersonal skills to provide superior customer service.

This position serves as a lead system administrator for Enterprise level systems and storage administration used to support campus computing and campus services; Manage Active Directory, Windows OS, application and patch deployment services; Investigate and recommend technology; Collaborate with technical team leads to achieve goals.

Bachelor’s degree and three years of experience in information technology field, Associate’s and five years, or combination of education and experience equal to seven years.

Strong knowledge of Server and Client Operating Systems.
Effective oral and written communication skills.

Salary Information

Salary is complemented by a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical, dental, retirement, tuition, and paid time off.
Salary Range: $69,560 to $85,000. Final salary will be dependent upon education and experience.

Duties / Responsibilities

Job Duties


Enterprise System Administration:

Create, monitor, troubleshoot and maintain user, group, and computer accounts in Active Directory, Monitor and ensure that domain controllers are functioning properly; Manage Operating System Deployments and included infrastructure; Create & deploy group policies for the management of computers; Manage AD trust relationships; Security planning at the application and network level to ensure data integrity and system stability; Print server administration; Server operating system installs, configuration and migrations; Server Updates; Assist in Performing day-to-day operations, software/hardware upgrade planning & implementation, and software installation; usage statistics reports, software/security upgrades, software installation, scripting in various languages to support the needs of users / systems; Management, & deployment of SCCM campus-wide; Push application installs, security updates; Assist with Windows lab deployments; Troubleshoot issues with after-hours support as required.

Assist with maintenance of enterprise level systems for mission critical applications including Student Information System, Campus Portal, LMS, Oracle Databases, and all PSU web applications. Assist with security planning at the application and network level to ensure data integrity and system stability and availability. Provide support to developers and database administrators. Develop system and process documentation. Assist in maintaining DNS.

Liaison to various departments in support of server based applications on both Linux and Microsoft platforms.


Enterprise VMware and VDI Administration:

Leverage Virtualization technology to reduce PSU’s TCO and improve the redundancy and performance of mission critical systems. Create, configure, and maintain new Virtual Machines for departmental servers. Implement and monitor backup solution specific to virtual machines. Assist with Planning, installing, management, and maintenance of the virtual desktop infrastructure, servers, and storage devices. Assist with management and maintenance of the virtualization cluster; Integrate data storage systems with existing VMware servers.


Application Support and Administration:

Manage campus wide Antivirus, licensing, and security tools; technical resource for various software: Java, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative cloud; Liaison to various departments supporting their server based applications.


Enterprise Storage Area Network Administration:

Integrate data storage systems with existing servers, both physical and virtual. Create, configure, and maintain LUNs for servers. Architect, maintain, and update SAN for backup to disk solution. Manage SAN for video production facilities.
