Summary of Position

The Financial Aid Office is seeking an enthusiastic, detail oriented, organized team player with a high level of customer service to fill the role of Financial Aid Support Assistant who will assist in the operation of the Financial Aid Office. The Financial Aid Office manages all aspects of student financial aid and this position is critical in meeting the demands of the ever changing student population as well as financial aid programs. This is a 12-month, 37.5/hour work week position with a starting salary of $15.49 per hour, complemented by a generous benefits package.

The successful candidate will be the first point of contact in the Financial Aid Office for students, parents, and the Keene State College Community, and under the supervision of professional staff will assist students and families, process transactions in our student information system and provide daily administrative support to the Financial Aid team. They will also provide courteous, accurate and efficient customer service, and must be able to work a flexible schedule and be available for presentations, KSC open houses, or other functions to meet the needs of a challenging office environment. Additional responsibilities include responding to electronic inquiries concerning all areas of processing and awarding financial aid; answering phones, scheduling appointments, maintaining an on-going understanding of the computer programs, overseeing workflow of student employees as needed and performing other job-related duties as assigned. Other minimum qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent with five years of business, accounting or bookkeeping experience involving progressive responsible duties requiring discretion and independent judgment or Associate’s degree in accounting and three years related experience, or any combination of higher education and related experience equal to five years. Preference will be given to those with a bachelor’s degree. Proven customer service skills; experience with computer applications, including MS Office systems, including Word, Excel as well as relational databases (e.g., Datatel); ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students and the general public; and ability to maintain appropriate confidentiality of sensitive information.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a higher educational business office, preferably in a customer-based setting, additional related experience and/or higher education; additionally the College has identified desirable qualifications that support our commitment to creating and maintaining a diverse campus community including the ability to speak a second language or to bring a multicultural perspective to the campus.

Salary Information

This is a 12-month, 37.5/hour work week position with a starting salary of $15.49 per hour, complemented by a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical, dental, retirement, tuition, and paid time off.
