Summary of Position

Under the direct supervision of a Cook II or supervisor, the Cook I is trained and responsible for food production associated with various food concepts located at Holloway Commons. This position is also required to maintain all aspects of the assigned station including guest service, student training, sanitation, and related service records.

*High School graduation or Equivalent. *One-year of customer or food service experience, and at least one year of experience in some phase of quantity cooking or food preparation. *Knowledge of food service techniques, guest service, and sanitation and safety practices. *Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform assigned duties and responsibilities. *Ability to wear and use appropriate personal protective equipment as necessary. *Ability to understand instructions and work cooperatively with staff.

Prepare and/or cook menu items foods such as eggs, vegetables, starches, etc according to standardized recipes and timing criteria.Set-up of concept, to include stocking of product, setting up service lines, pre prep and finish of specialized recipes, ensure product availibility to guests and instruct on proper recipe applications

Duty/Responsibility

Operate full line of kitchen equipment as directed: ovens, pasta machine, fryolators, as well as knife skills.Regular cleaning and maintenance of the facility including cleaning the sautee range, cold wells, hot wells,preparation tables, and holding cabinets/coolers Monitor product quality as directed, presentation, temperature, sanitation. Comply with health codes.

Duty/Responsibility

Maintain records of food consumed, returned or discarded as required. Use of service records to assist production manager with quantities required for preparations. Dispose of leftover food items according to instructions of supervisor. Adherence to proper food safety and sanitation practices as well as general safety practices.

Report and corrrect substandard safety and sanitation standards. Assure proper safety and sanitation standards are followed. Participate in orientation and training of team. Assist in guest flow and standards of service. Follow departmental standards. Problem solve with staff. Maintain professional appearance.
