Summary of Position

Keene State College’s Nursing Program is seeking qualified applicants with medical surgical expertise for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level beginning August 2018. The department is dedicated to advancing nursing and educating future nursing leaders to provide innovative, high quality healthcare.

This is a rich opportunity to join a dynamic Nursing Program. The curriculum is based on the AACN Essentials of Baccalaureate Education for Professional Nursing Practice and on the Nurse of the Future framework. We teach practices that promote the health and well-being of diverse individuals, families, and communities. The nursing course sequence begins the fall of the junior year. Students who graduate from the nursing program are competent nurses who make sound clinical judgments, communicate effectively, and make practice decisions using the best evidence available. We seek faculty who will provide rich opportunities that help students to gain and translate knowledge into the attitudes and skills required to give safe, high quality patient care and to become responsible global citizens.

Responsibilities: teaching undergraduate nursing courses that incorporate current theory and research. Areas of responsibility will include the content of curriculum delivered for the semester with consideration given to the faculty member’s areas of expertise. Additional responsibilities will include: providing clinical instruction, oversight, and mentoring students; collaborating with nursing colleagues to ensure the nursing curriculum is current and well developed; and, providing academic advising. Curricular aspects include learning outcomes, instructional components and criteria for evaluation. Faculty members are specifically evaluated regarding their teaching effectiveness, their service to the nursing department, college, community and/or professional organizations, and their engagement in research and scholarly activities.

Acceptable Minimum Qualifications

• Earned doctorate in Nursing or enrolled in a doctorate program: PhD or DNP

• a New Hampshire registered nurse license or eligibility to obtain a NH RN license

• a minimum of five years of nursing experience

• three to five years of teaching experience

• current healthcare provider CPR, and health records titers and immunizations

• desire to work as part of a team in the department and within the College

• excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

• a record of collaborative commitment to scholarship, service, and academic excellence

• clinical and/or advanced nursing practice experience in the areas of critical care, acute care and/or medical-surgical nursing

An offer of employment will be contingent upon a satisfactory background check, licensure verification, and approval by the New Hampshire State Board of Nursing.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in curriculum development and program evaluation

Salary Information

Salary will be based on the Collective Bargaining Unit Agreement, complemented by a generous benefit package.
