Summary of Position

Under supervision of the MUB Assistant Director for Facilities and Events, perform and/ or coordinate tasks associated with the daily building operations and event management services.

Additional Job Information

The UNH Memorial Union Building is a high traffic, centrally important element of the UNH community and campus life. The person filling this position will be directly responsible for the staff that operates the building, the information desk, and who provide service for up to 50-60 meetings and events a day.

This is an 80% time position with work hours occurring predominately Monday through Friday with the expectation for occasional need to work on a weekend or evening to meet the needs of student staff training or unusually large events that require non-student staff oversight. The distribution of the schedule is in development but is intended to be full time or close to full time during academic periods and less hours during the non-academic times of spring break week, summer and winter break. The sum total being 80% time over the course of the year.

• Technology literacy to be able to operate a computer and/or tablet and utilize Microsoft Office programs and to be trained on specialized software programs related to the performance of this job

Additional Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a college/university environment
• Events management experience
• Familiarity with UNH campus and knowledge of University departments and student organizations
• Experience with EMS Event Management Software

Duties / Responsibilities

Job Duties


• Utilizing student development theory and practices, hire train and supervise student operations team consisting of 35-40 employees who are responsible for event and client services, room set ups, information desk management, policy enforcement, emergency procedure implementation, and general building oversight during operational hours.
• Plan agendas and run staff meetings with full and partial operations team groups.
• Coordinate with the Assistant Director of Operations related to technical training of AV staff.


• Manage scheduling and staffing within payroll budget parameters while providing high level of client service and efficient building operations.
• Evaluate event needs and schedule all major event set ups creating ad hoc staffing shifts as needed.
• Coordinate with the Scheduling Office Manager and Facilities Manager to ensure coordinated operations


• Provide input on policy related to event and building operations
• Provide input on building and equipment updates that impact building and event operations and services
• Perform other related duties as assigned
