Summary of Position

Keene State College‘s Office of Student Involvement and the L.P. Young Student Center are seeking applications for a full-time benefitted position of Evening Operations & Tech Coordinator. As a key member of the Student Center team the successful candidate will ensure quality support and services for events and programs that occur within the facility. This position provides management and support for programs and events in the evenings during the week and on weekends. This is a 12-month, 37.5/hr. work week position with a starting salary of $15.49 per hour, complemented by a generous benefits package.

Responsibilities:
Under general supervision of the Director, this position manages the following key areas of Student Center operations and support:
• Evening & Weekend Facility & Event Management: oversight of events and programs as well as student employees on weekday evenings and weekend nights; serving as direct supervisor of student Tech Staff and Building Managers; coordination with “daytime” Operations Coordinator of facility to ensure clear flow of communication and sharing of necessary information; enforcement of Student Center and Keene State College policies for safety of the building and its visitors/users; evening hours include direct support of special, major, and/or late night events hosted by student or campus groups, outside community organizations, and conferences held within the facility; the ability to understand, and keep current with event management software (25 Live); problem solving around issues of building use, scheduling and event set-up.
• Student Employment Program: schedule, hire, train, evaluate, and support Tech Crew and Building Manager student employees; provide up-to-date resources for student employee professional development; work with other student staff supervisors within the Office of Student Involvement and Student Center to provide unified messaging, general information, and shared training when applicable; use and make necessary updates/changes to the employee scheduling package (WhenToWork) for Tech Crew and Building Managers; facilitate regular staff meetings for Tech Crew and Building Managers.
• Operation and maintenance of audiovisual equipment within the Student Center: maintain audio/visual equipment including sound system and lighting in Mabel Brown Room, Night Owl Cafe sound rack, multiple smart carts, and projectors throughout the facility; attend and provide direct support for major events within the facility, troubleshoot technical issues; suggest necessary adjustments, upgrades, or changes to support tech needs throughout the building; properly organize and store the variety of equipment, cords, cables, and capital inventory within the building; communicate any tech-related issues to Director of facility.
• Administrative functions: serve on campus committees as requested; provide assistance and support of Student Center/Student Involvement and other major sponsored events; assist the Director with management of the facility.

High School diploma or equivalent, five years’ experience involving progressive responsible duties requiring discretion and independent judgement or Associate’s degree and three years of related experience or a combination of higher education and related experience equal to five years’ experience working with students; demonstrated knowledge of audio/visual equipment; ability to troubleshoot technical problems related to sound, lighting, projection; proven administrative, organizational and interpersonal skills; the ability to handle multiple priorities and problem solve in a fast paced dynamic environment; ability to interact effectively with diverse populations (guests, students, faculty, staff and external agencies) in a positive and empowering manner; demonstrated proficiency with computer applications including MS Office systems, MS Word, Excel, Outlook; ability to work weeknights and weekend hours. Additional Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree; Demonstrated experience working in a student center/union; involvement in Student Activities including on-campus employment as an undergrad/graduate student; experience supervising/advising students; demonstrated expertise in working with sound equipment, theatrical lighting systems, and general audio/visual equipment; demonstrated experience working within a large facility/theater/conference venue environment, demonstrated understanding of college student development including knowledge and practice of student development theory, programming, and risk management; demonstrated experience working with event management software (25Live) and student employee scheduling software (WhenToWork); Additionally, the College has identified desirable qualifications that support our commitment to creating and maintaining a diverse campus community including the ability to speak a second language or to bring a multicultural perspective to the campus.
