Job Description

Under general guidance of the NH SARE Coordinator, the program assistant will work to manage the NH SARE (Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education) State Program. The program assistant, in collaboration with the coordinator, will execute and manage a SARE professional development grant project to benefit commercial beekeepers and agricultural educators. The program assistant will coordinate agricultural educational events under the SARE state plan; collaborate with partner agencies and organizations; support evaluation and reporting, and will aid in promotion of the Northeast SARE grant programs.

This is a part-time, non-benefited position located in Carroll County.

Educational Programming
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of and commitment to the mission of SARE and Cooperative Extension.
• Provide information and assistance to clientele, volunteers, and groups as directed or requested.
• Develop educational materials in conjunction with the NH SARE State Coordinator.
• Develop an online, web-based classroom using the Canvas platform to execute the goals of the NH SARE Professional Development Program.
• Assist in the development and implementation of marketing materials including social media.
• Coordinate arrangements for meetings, programs, and activities.
• Design and conduct programs and recruit volunteers in accordance with the spirit and policies of Civil Rights, Affirmative Action and Equal Employment Opportunity.
• Perform routine office tasks such as preparing materials, coordinating publications and maintaining records and files.
Information Technology and Distance Education/Communications and Marketing
• Model and promote the use of technology, including social media, video conferencing, web-based and other emerging technologies in educational program delivery.
• Demonstrate effective interpersonal verbal and written skills.
• Demonstrate effective problem solving skills.
• Maintain ongoing communication with supervisors and program team leaders and keep them fully apprised of issues, programs and accomplishments.
• Conduct effective meetings, presentations and group decision-making processes for clientele within the program.
Marketing and Promotion
• Implement statewide marketing strategies to promote Northeast SARE, UNH Cooperative Extension and related programs in accordance with the organization’s marketing policies.
• Build and maintain partnerships with supporting agencies and other groups and organizations as appropriate.

Required Qualifications

1. Bachelors’ Degree in agriculture, horticulture, or a related field.
2. Familiarity with honeybee management and IPM.
3. Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and social media.
4. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
5. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required, as staff person must be able to meet travel demands of the position.
6. Occasional evening and weekend work required.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Experience with Salesforce, Adobe or Publisher preferred.
2. Experience with Canvas or other online classroom programs preferred.
3. The ideal candidate will have a combination of education and experience that includes agriculture, beekeeping, and adult education.
4. Experience with IPM or advanced beekeeping skills.
