Summary of Position

The position of CIBBR Program Director will provide administrative, financial, and logistical support for the new Center of Integrated Biomedical and Bioengineering Research (CIBBR). This position will work directly with the Principal investigator and leadership team.

Other minimum qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in business management, program management, or a scientific field (biomedical science or bioengineering) relevant to the Center, and 5 years of progressively responsible related experience.
2. Thorough knowledge of accounting and budget management. Facility with computerized financial record-keeping systems. Demonstrated expertise in managing grant-funded programs.
3. Advanced computer skills including the Microsoft Office Suite of programs, as well as website building software applications and software applications appropriate for the generation and dissemination of promotional materials.
4. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with Center faculty and staff as well as external partners, stakeholders, and the general public.
5. Supervisory experience.
6. Strict attention to detail. Ability to analyze and resolve problems in all aspects of a complex project.
7. Agility in prioritizing multiple demands within a complex dynamic academic work environment.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

1. Master’s degree in business administration, program administration, or relevant scientific discipline.
2. Administrative experience in a university, research, or other institutional setting.

Salary Information

Starting salary normally between minimum $47,920 and 1st quartile, depending on candidate’s education and experience.

Duties / Responsibilities

Job Duties


Fiscal Management: Serve as the administrative manager of a multi-million dollar annual budget and cost share. Responsible for revising budgets for numerous funds of the CIBBR, including the development of reports and projections for the CIBBR funds. Initiate and direct planning of annual organizational budgets. Managing existing funds, preparing budgets for new projects and grant activities, develop annual projections, process payments, and conduct complex financial transactions such as cost share, implement budget adjustments and revenue transfers as needed.


Strategic Communication: Responsible for establishing, implementing and managing the flow of communication for the CIBBR. Development of communication channels includes working with the leadership team, staff, and investigators of the CIBBR, the external advisory committee, the external mentors, departments and colleges across UNH, external stakeholders, the general public, and the program sponsor (NIH). Additional responsibilities include creating surveys and collecting, collating, and analyzing data, and preparing reports for the sponsor (NIH), participants, and other stakeholders to track the progress of the CIBBR in implementing the programming and research described in the grant.


Management Operations/Supervision: Responsible for implementing the stipulated activities as funded by the sponsor. These include serving as the administrative liaison with university and college administrators, faculty and the office of Sponsored Programs in the development, communication and implementation of office procedures, resolve questions and problems, and implement policies to ensure compliance with the sponsor’s (NIH’s) terms and conditions. Logistically manage all day-to-day operations of the CIBBR office and associated personnel as needed to implement the activities stipulated in the grant. Additional responsibilities include working with other units both on and off campus to interpret, coordinate, and respond as needed to ensure compliance with UNH policies/regulations and with those of the sponsor (NIH). This position will includes direct supervision of students and staff appointed to the CIBBR.


Facilities: Responsible for facilities set up as related to the grant objectives in collaboration with UNH Procurement and Facilities. Serves as liaison between the program leadership team, research faculty, and UNH procurement to coordinate the solicitation of bids for equipment to be purchased from this grant, working with procurement to negotiate contract pricing, delivery, and installation arrangements.

Additional responsibilities include working with UNH Facilities to ensure that the space which houses equipment will be adequate and meet the manufacturers’ specifications for environmental conditions to ensure optimal instrumentation operation, and initiating requests with Facilities and the leadership team to identify appropriate space for the equipment and ensuring that the remodeling/renovations of the space to accommodate the equipment are completed.
