Summary of Position

Under the direction of the Senior Director of Corporate & Foundation Relations, develop and implement a comprehensive University-wide institutional giving program, securing annual and sustained funding from corporations, foundations and non-profit entities. Create strategic plans to deepen relationships leading to increased and sustained funding. Working with senior leadership and faculty, identify funding sources to support UNH priorities and opportunities. Develop appropriate donor stewardship and recognition. Meet or exceed cultivation and revenue goals for each fiscal year.

• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years of experience in fundraising in a non-profit or academic setting.
• Excellent written and persuasive verbal communication skills.

• Documented success in relationship building and closing major gifts.
• Ability to travel and occasional availability beyond usual working hours.
• Willingness to both work alone and ability to work collaboratively with college and university colleagues.
• Ability to maintain donor confidentiality when warranted, and to handle sensitive and confidential matters with appropriate discretion.
• Skill using applicable computer software and programs.
• Valid driver’s license.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree.
• Fundraising experience in higher education.
• Experience creating funding proposals and a wide variety of supporting materials in a non-profit setting.

Duty/Responsibility

1. Identification, Cultivation and Solicitation

• Formulate strategies and approaches for cultivation and solicitation of institutional entities.
• Plan and implement prospect and volunteer meetings, campus visits and related forums.
• Develop and maintain a working knowledge of priority areas within UNH. Gain knowledge of faculty research interests and areas of expertise.
• Serve as primary resource to faculty in devising and implement fundraising strategies for institutional prospects.
• Provide support to faculty in development of proposals, project descriptions, background materials, and other informational materials.
• Write, edit and produce formal proposals and letters of inquiry and related supporting documents, yielding a minimum of $1M in new commitments annually.
• Create briefings and other working materials for senior leadership and faculty involved in cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of institutional prospects.
• Conduct necessary research to develop relevant materials for external and internal audiences around strategic imperatives and other funding priorities and initiatives. Acquire and evaluate information and calls attention to significant and emerging trends.
• Maintain knowledge of initiatives, current programs and other funding opportunities from institutional sources.

2. Constituency Relations

• Ensure appropriate recognition and stewardship of institutional funders. Work in close collaboration with senior director to determine annual and ongoing stewardship actions required to maintain and enhance relations with key donors.
• With senior director, coordinate efforts with development staff in colleges, schools, institutes and centers as well as in other administrative offices, i.e. Sponsored Program Administration, Research Development and UNH Innovation to ensure productive and efficient outreach to institutional prospects, data management, and stewardship activities for institutional prospects & donors.

3. Program Management & Other

• Manage requests for proposals (RFP) distribution and tracking process for faculty effectively and efficiently distributes private funding opportunities; tracks ongoing applications progress, including outcomes of grant applications.
• Coordinate institutional prospect pipeline tracking, research, gift recording, and stewardship activities. Analyze data and produce achievement and other reports.
• Produce routine and ad-hoc achievement and progress reports.
• When necessary, perform research functions regarding institutional prospects.
• Work to maintain and evolve policies and procedures to maintain best practices for institutional giving.
• Assist in supervision of support staff and supervise student workers and interns.
• Other duties as assigned.
