Summary of Position

The Interpersonal Violence: Response and Resilience lab seeks a business operations and lab manager with broad administrative, financial and operations management experience supporting a complex research group to work under the direction of two faculty directors .The job responsibilities of this role are all encompassing and the Manager will perform duties ranging from administrative assistance to processing transactional level activities to the fiscal management of complex grants, and as well as managing lab operations. The lab is connected to the Department of Psychology and Prevention Innovations Research Center at the University of New Hampshire.

Other minimum qualifications

Bachelor degree in Business Management or related field and 5 years of related experience, in human resources, and budget management and previous office management and/or research experience and/or project management, preferably in an academic setting.
• Previous experience with budget preparation/oversight and personnel management, preferably in a university context and/or with grants.
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Other requirements include excellent organizational and time management skills and high levels of efficiency, accuracy and independence in completing all tasks.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize and multi-task in order to meet stringent deadlines across a number of large-scale projects.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office technologies and university budget/payroll systems.
• Ability to work with Principle Investigators (PIs), graduate and undergraduate research assistants, and postdoctoral fellows and project coordinators at all levels in a timely and accurate manner.

Duties / Responsibilities

Job Duties


Oversee budget expenditures based on the study(s) operational expectation including monthly review and monitoring of project budgets and expenditures and discussion with PIs to insure budget projections are on track. Will also work to help prepare budgets and budget narratives for grant submissions and renewals.


Business and lab management including overseeing preparation of independent contract agreements and monitoring and processing invoices related to independent contracts and sub-awards on grant projects. Manage personnel administration for lab such as processing and tracking p-card charges and travel reimbursements for multiple large grant projects. Complete hiring paperwork for lab employees and independent study contracts for students. Direct lab staff on issues such as timesheets and lab protocols. Work with more advanced research team members such as graduate students to assign undergraduates to specific projects. Coordinate lab meetings, order supplies and plan all lab events. Serve as a liaison between the lab, the College of Liberal Arts Business Service Center and UNH Human Resources. Interface with UNH Information Technology regarding lab computers being in working order and updated, helping to manage lab operations information on BOX, and managing lab personnel access to needed IT. Review, develop, and recommend changes in lab operating and hiring procedures as necessary to insure maximum efficiency, IRB compliance, and a positive and enriching working and learning environment. Oversee documentation of lab procedures and review for compliance. Organize lab and project meetings. Work closely with other administrative staff at Prevention Innovations Research Center.


Administrative assistant to two Principle Investigators including regular updates to their curriculum vitae, tracking Institutional Review Board and other research and grant related timelines for deliverables, assisting with processing research manuscripts submitted for publication, and conference presentations, making travel arrangements and managing daily schedules, keeping endnote library current, and responding to emails (forwarded from the PIs) requesting reprints, more information about the research lab, current opportunities, etc.
