Summary of Position

Provide technical and analytic support to projects as a member of the Institute for Health Policy and Practice team.

Duties will include health care data maintenance, analyzing data sets, developing and communicating analytic plans with various audiences, and providing analysis results for reports for a variety of audiences.

Occasionally, the position will include direct contact with clients of the projects, identifying business needs in detail; analyzing and synthesizing research data and results; recommending analytic solutions where required; and reporting and publishing final results.

In addition, the Analyst will be responsible for documentation of methodologies as they are developed and updated.

Other minimum qualifications

1. High school diploma and ten years of related experience; 2. Bachelor’s degree in Health Policy, Epidemiology, Statistics, Mathematics or related field and five years related experience; OR 3. Master’s degree in related field with three years of experience in data analysis; data management or data reporting and evaluation of data.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

Experience with SPSS, SAS, STATA or other analytic software packages preferred.
Experience in analyzing health care claims data. MS Access and SQL experience are beneficial.

Duties / Responsibilities

Job Duties


Data analysis descriptive analysis, correlations, factor analysis, and regression models; database development to facilitate analysis and administer completed databases; work as part of a team to construct analytical plans; maintain databases; data maintenance to include routine checks of new data and reporting of findings and work with analytic team to recommend strategies for mitigation. Data sources include commercial claims, Medicare claims, assessments, surveys, qualitative interviews, and non-standardized data. Analytic tools include MS Excel, SAS, SAS Visual Analytics, mapping/GIS software, etc.


Write code to generate systematic analytic reports for internal and external audiences.


Prepare presentations for various audiences internal and external to UNH.


Attend meetings to assist in the development of analytical plans, convey information about the database uses and limitations, and assist various audiences in data use and interpretation.


Documentation of methodologies used in analysis and/or production of analytic reports.
