Summary of Position

Keene State College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position of Assistant Professor in Science Education to begin August 2018.

The successful candidate will bring a passion for teaching and mentoring students and a commitment to their success, as well as a spirit of innovation that will continue Keene State’s reputation for excellence in teacher preparation in the 21st century. There is an expectation that the successful candidate will work with faculty across the sciences and in the Education Department to develop collaborations and program innovations that will enable the college to 1) sustainably address the critical need for science educators in the schools and to 2) support science teaching in our partner schools.

Responsibilities: Teaching classes in middle and secondary science methods and student teaching and supervising students in their field placements. Curricular innovation and planning, in addition to support of the Educator Preparation program, including accreditation reporting and data analysis. Teaching in a content area as well as in the College’s Integrative Studies Program, a transformational general education approach. All faculty positions include teaching 12 credits per semester, academic advising, providing service to the College, discipline or profession, and establishing an active scholarly agenda.

Acceptable Minimum Qualifications

Doctoral course work in either Science Education or a related science field; extensive experience in Science Education; focused program of scholarship in science education; record of successful teaching in a middle/secondary school (grades 5-12) in the United States; evidence of a strong commitment to teaching. ABD near completion will be considered, but must be complete by August 1, 2019.

Additional Preferred Qualifications
Salary Information

Salary is in accordance with the prevailing Collective Bargaining Agreement. An earned doctorate is required for the rank of Assistant Professor; rank minimum for fall 2016 was $66,800. ABD will be considered for Instructor’s rank and is $59,470 minimum in fall 2016.
